Alternatives › Hint

Hint was built for membership management. Wellpro was built for goal-based memberships and programs.

Many practices run Hint for memberships and billing next to a separate EHR, a patient portal, lab portals and a messaging app. Wellpro replaces that stack with one system built around each patient’s goals: the chart, the living care plan, the patient app, and memberships and billing in the same record.

Let’s talk
The short answer

Which one fits your practice?

Hint is a strong fit

If your biggest need is membership and employer-sponsored billing at scale, and you want to be part of the large direct primary care community Hint has built.

Wellpro is the better fit

If you want to replace your EHR, Hint and the tools around them with one system built around each patient’s goals, a living care plan and the time between visits, with memberships and billing in the same record. That covers functional, integrative, longevity, precision, concierge and direct primary care practices today, and primary care and specialty practices that bill insurance, who can start alongside their current system now while insurance billing and claims are coming soon.

The real difference

What each system is built around.

Every health record is built around something. Hint’s founders started the company in 2013 to power direct care memberships, and Hint grew into the leading membership and billing platform for direct primary care. Hint released its all-in-one EMR in March 2023 and announced Hint AI the same year, and it still offers a billing-only option for practices that chart in another system. Many practices use it that way, so the patient’s chart, care plan and membership live in different places. Today its AI drafts the visit note, summarizes the chart, answers questions about it and suggests follow-up tasks for the clinician to review.

Wellpro is built around the patient’s goals. We call this outcome-native. Each patient’s goals map to clinical goals. Each clinical goal carries the actions that serve it, like labs, prescriptions, supplements, therapies and referrals, and the measures that show whether it is working: lab markers, wearable data and what the patient reports. The care plan is the center of the record, and the membership is built around it.

That plan stays alive between visits. As results, wearable data and check-ins come in, Wellpro suggests changes to the plan and your clinicians approve them. Thrive, the patient app branded for your practice, shows each patient today’s steps and their progress toward each goal.

Members renew when they can see their progress. Wellpro was built to show it.

Wellpro started in October 2024 and was designed AI-native and outcome-native from the ground up.

One system

Your EHR, Hint, a portal, lab portals and a messaging app. Or Wellpro.

When the chart lives in one system and the membership in another, your team copies information between them and nobody sees the whole picture. In Wellpro, the chart, the care plan, orders, labs, messaging, Thrive and memberships and billing share one record, so what a patient pays for and the progress they make sit side by side.

Flows

Describe a workflow. Wellpro runs it.

With Flows and Care Orchestration, your practice builds its own care pathways and clinical and admin workflows by describing them in plain language: a new-member onboarding sequence, a 12-week retest cadence, chronic care check-ins, a renewal process. Wellpro’s AI agents carry out each step for every patient it applies to: sending messages, queuing orders for approval, scheduling follow-ups and flagging what needs a clinician. Your team steps in where judgment is needed.

AI-native

Five questions to ask any AI-native EHR.

  1. Is it built around structured goals, actions and measures? AI can only act on what the system understands.
  2. Does the AI do the work, or only suggest it? Drafting the note, the summary, the care plan updates and the orders, with your clinicians approving.
  3. Does the AI work between visits? Noticing new results and check-ins, suggesting plan changes and handling routine messages under your rules.
  4. Is the AI everywhere, or in a few features?
  5. Was it designed this way from the start, or added to an existing record?

Memberships and billing

Memberships and billing, in the same record as the care.

Hint set the standard for direct care membership billing, and if employer-sponsored plans are most of your revenue today, that matters. Wellpro runs memberships in the same record as the chart and the care plan, so what a patient pays for and the progress they make sit side by side.

Everything you sell

Monthly, quarterly or annual memberships, fixed-term programs paid in full or as a deposit plus installments, prepaid packages, à la carte services and included services with rollover and expiry.

Families

One guarantor, age-based pricing and a family maximum, with each member’s balance kept separate.

Enrollment from one link

The plan, a personal price, your agreement, forms and payment in one link. The membership turns active when the patient signs, pays and finishes their forms.

Billing that runs on its own

Charges on schedule, automatic retries and card-update links, pause, resume and cancel under your agreement terms.

Every way patients pay

Cards, HSA and FSA cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and bank debit. Your practice is the merchant, payments pay out to your own bank, Stripe is built in, and Wellpro can work with other merchant services and processors.

Know your numbers

Monthly recurring revenue, active members, churn, past-due balances and aging, renewals, and payouts reconciled to every charge.

Priced from the plan

When the care plan calls for it, turn it into an offer: a program, a membership with included services or a package, priced from your own catalog.

Coming soon

Employer billing, insurance claims and Wellpro AI billing reports.

Insurance practices

Bill insurance? Start alongside now.

Insurance billing and claims are coming to Wellpro, and we are building them with a small group of primary care and specialty practices. If you bill insurance today, your clinicians can work in Wellpro for charting, care plans and follow-up while your current system keeps handling claims. Tell us how you bill, and we will talk about working together.

Switching

Switching from Hint and your EHR.

We move you off both at once, with white glove migration, setup and training. We migrate your patient records from your EHR and your members and plans from Hint, set up your protocols and care plans, and train your team. Most practices are live in weeks. Your protocols stay private to your practice, and patient data is never used to train AI models.

Questions

Questions practices ask.

What is the best Hint alternative for a practice that wants care plans and outcomes?

One built around the outcome the patient is paying for. Wellpro connects each patient’s goals to a living care plan, tracks progress between visits in a branded patient app, and runs memberships and programs in the same record.

Is Hint an EMR?

Yes. Hint released its all-in-one EMR in March 2023, adding charting, e-prescribing and labs to its membership and billing platform.

Does Hint have AI?

Yes. Hint AI includes an AI scribe, chart summaries, chat over the chart and AI Analyze, which suggests diagnosis updates and follow-up tasks for clinician review. Wellpro’s AI also works on the care plan, suggesting changes as results and check-ins arrive, and runs the care pathways your team describes.

Is Hint AI-native?

Hint’s founders started the company in 2013, and Hint announced its AI in 2023. Wellpro started in October 2024 and was designed AI-native and outcome-native from the ground up. The five questions above are a fair way to compare any two systems.

Does Hint have a patient app?

As of November 2026, Hint lists its patient app as coming soon. Members use a portal to book visits, message the practice and see their records and results. Wellpro includes Thrive, the patient app branded for your practice, with today’s steps and progress toward each goal.

Does Hint connect to wearables?

Yes, through partner apps. Guava Health, for example, brings in data from Garmin, Oura, Dexcom and Libre, and saves summaries to Hint as documents. In Wellpro, CGM and more than 300 wearable devices connect directly, and each reading is tracked against the goal it serves.

Can we build our own workflows and care pathways?

Yes. With Flows, you describe a care pathway or a clinical or admin workflow in plain language, and Wellpro builds it. Wellpro’s AI agents then carry out each step for every patient it applies to, such as sending messages, queuing orders for approval, scheduling follow-ups and flagging what needs a clinician. Your team steps in where judgment is needed.

Can Wellpro handle employer-sponsored memberships?

Employer billing is coming soon to Wellpro. Today, Wellpro runs memberships, programs, packages and family plans in the same record as the care plan.

Can Wellpro replace both Hint and our EHR?

Yes. Wellpro includes charting, an ambient scribe, orders, e-prescribing, labs, messaging, telehealth, Thrive and memberships and billing in one system. We migrate your records from your EHR and your members and plans from Hint.
